Out Of the Woods
Forgive the pun... The rain has done it! The fire isn't out by any means, but at least the fire fighters have deemed the risk lessened enough that all our evacuees were able to return home yesterday. They're still on alert but the danger seems to have passed. Great news for us, and although we'll still be keeping an eye on it, I can enjoy the rest of my mini-break here on the coast without worrying. The way it's raining down here this morning, hopefully there is more rain on the way at home. Regardless of the fire, we really need it, after a four month drought. I guess fall is here!

Excellent news! It definitely feels like fall in this neck of the woods (pun intended!) - thank God. The heat was doing me in!

Cool temperatures and blue skies here, with hardly a sign of smoke. Here's the latest update from the wildfire website:
The fire is now 100% guarded and 80% contained. Crews continue to make good progress mopping up the fire. Cooler weather, good overnight recoveries and light, scattered showers are assisting fire-fighting efforts.
So it's not out, but it's under control. My 'first day of school' at work today preoccupied me completely, and I didn't even think about wildfires for the first time in almost 2 weeks. I was away all weekend and didn't see people's comments, so my apologies for the delay in getting them posted. After a week of anxiety we're finally able to look ahead to autumn weather, and autumn chores around the house. Richard got a head start while I was away for the weekend, and instead of checking wildfire websites and looking at the sky, we were happily planning reno projects and comparing up-coming work schedules. Much, much better.
Thanks again to everyone who called to make sure we were all right. Unless something drastic changes, I think I can say that's the end of this topic.

So glad to hear the good news! Now that fall is definitly here there shouldn't be any more worries. You'll have to let us know
what the new reno project is all about.
