Busy
Why has my main page been blank for a week? Because we've been working as hard this November as we were this time last year when I moved in (well, one year ago tomorrow, actually). Today, Rob B and cousin Greg are here for extra muscle, to get the rest of our new laminate flooring laid. Last weekend we had Richard's mom up for a visit. Bev motivated us AND made it possible for us to get this flooring, so we're very grateful (and still very sore). Thankfully with Rob and Greg to help all weekend, we should get the livingroom, hallway, dining room and possibly the kitchen done. Our electrician is here this morning too, finishing the wiring in our freshly painted and floored master bedroom. With only the trim, baseboards and closet doors to go, we can move into it soon! The main bathroom is also near completion, just needing grout on the tile countertop and tub trim. So, lots of progress and no time for picture-taking. But stay tuned, lots to show off after this weekend!! |

Are you really still sore? The bedroom laminate really did require BRUTE strength - especially after a day of texturing the walls in a beautiful textured mocha suede. Hope you still feel it is romantic. How special to have 3 men helping out this week-end - and to move all the heavy furniture to. You guys deserve Monday off! Wish I were there to help. No, brown didn't win over red, so much as we disliked the reddish brown we tried the first time, came home with what we thought was a midtone olive green under the store lighting, and ended up with walls the colour of chocolate milk, with a really gorgeous faux suede finish that gives it depth and richness. And with the new birch laminate, WOW! You won't believe your eyes when you see this place...
Rob and Greg worked their tails off this weekend and we got the living room, hallway, dining room and kitchen flooring done. We just need to put the baseboard moldings back on and we're done. The transformation is amazing. I'll post pictures tomorrow night if I have time - we still have to get the grout done in the bathroom, and the sooner we get the moldings done in the master bedroom, the sooner we move into it. Next weekend, I hope!!
We spent our first night in this house a year ago today. Now, with the flooring to unify (and beautify!) the main living space, it is finally going to look DONE. We took the afternoon off once the guys left, to sit back and appreciate how much we've accomplished and how GREAT it looks.
